Beauregard Parish has such a rich history you will find it fascinating to go through each page of this website and glean all the information and enjoy all the pictures we have on here for you.

A movement to create Beauregard Parish was started in 1908 by a group of businessmen from DeRidder, Sugartown and Merryville.
On January 12, 1912, after two attempts, The new Beauregard parish was established from part of Calcasieu Parish.

A group of local women were the advocates for naming the parish in honor of, Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard  (May 28, 1818 – February 20, 1893), he was a Louisiana born author, civil servant, politician, inventor, and the first Brigadier General for the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. He was also one of the designers of the Confederate Battle Flag.

Beauregard Parish is often called the Southern Gateway to the Western Corridor.

Beauregard Parish is home to 13 places that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and out of the 13, 11 of them are in DeRidder, 1 is in Merryville and the other is in Dry Creek.

There is hunting for birds and larger game. There is an abundance of rivers and lakes to go fishing where you can catch bass, trout, and catfish.
Birders can find half of the birds of North America in Southwest Louisiana.

DeRidder, was voted to be the parish seat on October 15, 1912 and is the Hub of West Louisiana Canoe Country, it is surrounded by marvelous waterways popular with canoe lovers nationwide. Chief among these are the Sabine River, Whiskey Chitto, Toro Bayou and Kisatchie Bayou.

Here you'll find a rich history, culture and a flavor all it's own. Pull up a chair and stay a while and experience the beauty and treasures of this beautiful scenic area of South West Louisiana.

We are now involved in the National biking trails.
